Hammy

"I stand for honesty, equality, kindness, compassion,
treating people the way you'd want to be treated
and helping those in need.

To me, those are the traditional values.
That's what I stand for.

I also believe in dance."

-Ellen DeGeneres

that says you cannot paint,
then by all means paint,
and that voice will be silenced."

Floating Blimp

"Gloating is a superficial glowing,
floating is an idle flowing,
bloatedness is the paralysis of blowing up;
because silent movement
results in loud victories."

"When I am traveling in a carriage,
or walking after a good meal,
or during the night when I cannot sleep;
it is on such occasions that ideas
flow best and most abundantly."

Wise Old Owl

A wise old Owl sat on an oak,
The more he saw the less he spoke,
The less he spoke the more he heard,
Why aren't we like that wise old bird?"

9.11.01

"When I look out the window,
I exhale a prayer of thanks for the color green,
for my children's safety,
for the simple acts of faith like planting a garden
that helped see us through another spring,
another summer.
And I inhale some kind of promise to protect
my kids' hopes and good intentions we began
with this country.
Freedom of speech, the protection of diversity--
these are the most important ingredients of
American civil life and survival.
If I ever took them for granted,
I don't know."

-Barbara Kingsolver, novelist

The Squire

“When people say a knight's job is all glory,
I laugh and laugh and laugh.
Often I can stop laughing before they edge away
and talk about soothing drinks.”

Boston Bombing

"When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news,
my mother would say to me,
'Look for the helpers.
You will always find people who are helping.'
To this day, especially in times of 'disaster,'
I remember my mother's words,
and I am always comforted by realizing
that there are still so many helpers --
so many caring people in this world."
-Mister Rogers

Hot Air

Who knows if the moon's

a balloon,coming out of a keen city
in the sky--filled with pretty people?

(and if you and I should
get into it,if they
should take me and take you into their balloon,

why then we'd go up higher with all the pretty people
than houses and steeples and clouds:

go sailing away and away sailing into a keen
city which nobody's ever visited,where
always it's spring) and everyone's
in love and flowers pick themselves”
― E.E. CummingsCollected Poems

The Key

“You want me to give her a key?" the guy asked.
"I want you to give her a possibility," she told him, looking at my necklace again. "And that's what a key represents. An open door, a chance. You know?”
